LEAN SERVICES UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA
Within the framework of a European ADAPT Programme, financed by the European Social Fund, DRIRE, DRTEFP and participating companies, CEFORALP has conceived and developed a competitiveness process for SMEs in the services sector. This approach, telmed CEFORALP LEAN Services has been applied with success in 51 Service Sector Small & Medium companies (SMCs) in the Rhône Alpes region. In view of the results, studies and analyses carried out by the I.A.E. of the University of Lyon 3, in collaboration with Lyon 2, and to fullfil the needs expressed by the services SMCs, the partners decided to create a LEAN Services University Diploma.
Public concerned :
The post-graduate Lean Services University Diploma, as professionnal training course, is aimed at companies' senior executives and management staff. The pre-requisite level is a BAC+4 qualification (equivalent to A-level plus 4 years Higher Education). Other candidates may, apply before a commission for the validation of professional experience.
Organization of the University Diploma :
The teaching staff is made up of academics (from Lyon 11, IAE Lyon III, EM Lyon, IUP of St Etienne etc.), experts, company executives and experienced consultants.

Evaluation for the award of the Diploma:

  • Realization of an optimization project within a company (action plans with results etc.).
  • Presentation of a project carried out in a company as a major oral examination in front of the teaching staff.
  • A general examination on all the modules.


TEACHING

An overall teaching time of 150 hours is planned between October 2000 and June 2001, distributed as follows:

A two-day foundation seminar on basic issues in October 2000: The strengths of Lean Services Organization (15 hours).

Seven Themes :

  • Module 1 : The dynamics of Service Sector Activities (18 hours).
  • Module 2 : Innovation and development of services in SMCs (21 hours).
  • Module 3 : The development of services piloted by a project (21 hours).
  • Module 4 : The marketing and sale of services (21 hours).
  • Module 5 : Perfecting the service provision process (18 hours).
  • Module 6 : The development and capitalization of skills (18 hours).
  • Module 7 : Perfecting the implementation of a Lean Services
    process (18 hours).
  • Module 8 : Foundation seminar on the basic issues (18 hours).

The courses take place on Fridays and Saturday mornings every two weeks. Depending on availability, Saturday mornings may be replaced by 2-day seminars.


THE PLAN OF ACTION

Each participant will have chosen a topic from modules 2 to 6 for the realization of a professionnal training project. To be carried out within a company over a period of eight months.
