Leonardo da Vinci Programme

«The innovation laboratory in the framework of education and life long learning»

The Leonardo da Vinci programme contributes to the implementation of the community policy regarding life long learning, supporting and complementing the actions lead by the different Member States. It aims at promoting new pragmatic approaches in vocational training practices.

The specific objectives of the Leonardo da Vinci programme are the following :

  • “To support participants in training and further training activities in the acquisition and the use of knowledge, skills and qualifications to facilitate personal development
  • To support improvements in quality and innovation in vocational education and training systems, institutions and practices
  • To enhance the attractiveness of vocational education and training and mobility for employers and individuals and to facilitate the mobility of working trainees”

The project ISI – Innovation through Services in the Industry deals with the objective C of the programme, that is to say “promoting and reinforcing the contribution of vocational training to the innovation process in order to improve its competitiveness and the enterprise culture”. In this respect, a special attention is paid to encouraging cooperation between vocational training institutions and enterprises.

More specifically, the project ISI gives an answer to the second priority of the 2005-2006 Leonardo call for proposal : “improve the quality of systems and practices regarding education and vocational training”.
